Getting to Know the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee is to inspire and empower all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

The first echoes of this mission were heard in 1887 in the basement of Milwaukee's Plymouth Congregational Church. There, Milwaukee resident Annabell Cook Whitcomb welcomed the twelve charter members of her Boys' Busy Life Club, the first to experience Whitcomb's plan: Create safe places, filled with caring adults and constructive activities, to develop productive, responsible, and caring citizens from those in Milwaukee's most disadvantaged neighborhoods.

115 years later, the 22,000+ members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee continue to benefit from Whitcomb's vision. Each day our members experience a Club of their very own, a safe haven where potential meets opportunity.
