The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee is to inspire and empower all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
The Milwaukee Clubs fulfill this mission by providing after-school programs to Milwaukee's youth. Our diverse and developmentally appropriate programs engage youth in activities with adults, peers and family members and are based on the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs/interests of our members. We embrace six core service areas that provide a framework for everything our members do (click on each area for specific program examples):
Empowers youth to support and influence their Club and community, build meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and others' cultural identities.
Youth become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
Members develop a capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
Encourages youth to develop creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.
Members develop personal fitness, stress management and social skills, and learn the positive use of leisure time.
Youth develop an awareness, appreciation and knowledge of the environment and their role in preserving resources for future generations.
