We’re immensely proud of our RBI League Senior Baseball team for competing in the RBI World Series this past weekend. The team of 15 Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee members traveled to Cincinnati to play ball with other youth from across the nation. The young Brewers crew made it to the semi-final round of the tournament, going 3-1-1 over the course of the weekend.
The RBI program (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) is a nationwide initiative founded in 1989 by Major League Baseball to increase urban and inner city youth interest and participation in baseball and softball. Locally made possible by our partners at the Brewers Community Foundation, FOX Sports Wisconsin and U.S. Cellular, our RBI staff teach hundreds of Boys & Girls Clubs members to enjoy the sport and appreciate teamwork every year. Hard work and dedication by our RBI players can result in great opportunities, including throwing out first pitches at Milwaukee Brewers games, participating in community service projects and traveling across the country to play in tournaments.
We’re equally excited to see our RBI players and staff being recognized for their efforts such as RBI Milwaukee coordinator Miguel Green, who was named Brewers Community Achiever for the month of July. Club staff like Miguel drive our young players’ passion for baseball, as seen in this wonderful video produced by FOX 6. Join us in congratulating our RBI players and coaches on a successful season!
