Painting Milwaukee’s future with young professionals

Prior to The Prom on April 18, the Don & Sallie Davis Boys & Girls Club hosted another young professionals-focused event, which helped community members view Milwaukee through a new lens thanks to a number of creative activities. The Clubs hosted a panel for adults and teens that honed in on issues surrounding educational achievement and youth development, moderated by Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee President & CEO Vincent Lyles.

With panelists from United Way, City Year Milwaukee and Milwaukee Police Department, the discussion offered success stories and resources for personal growth to the young attendees. Following the panel, a World Cafe Networking session was hosted by four Club members who participate in the Stein Scholars program. The members offered their views on the challenges and hopes for Milwaukee’s future.

The event also gave younger groups of children the opportunity to express their creative sides with a dance lesson and a mural painting session. Children aged 5 to 14 participated in the mural painting, which will go on display at the Davis Club’s snack room upon its completion.
