Dwyane Wade Makes Special Back-to-School Visit
Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat basketball team answered questions from kids and teen at the Pieper-Hillside Boys & Girls Club.
On Monday, Aug. 30, the Miami Heat Guard and former
Marquette
University basketball standout Dwyane Wade made a special visit to the Pieper-Hillside Boys & Girls Club as the children prepared for the first day of school.

During his visit, Wade answered a variety of questions from Club members. He also encouraged them to set goals, dream big and to work very hard to achieve them. He stressed listening as the most important skill they need to succeed in life.

Wade’s visit was in conjunction with
Marquette
University and Boys & Girls Clubs America’s (BGCA) Youth of the Year Scholarship program. Renewable for four years, the scholarship is valued at more than $120,000. The national partnership between the university and BGCA had its roots in a local partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.
Marquette
University created an Urban Scholarship program several years ago, two of the 10 annual, full-tuition scholarships were designated for Milwaukee Club members.

Before Wade left, Pieper-Hillside Boys & Girls Club members learned about a new reading incentive program sponsored by Wade’s World Foundation. Members who read at least five books between September and November will have a chance to win one of three laptop computers.
