Wisconsin's First Lady Brings Her "Read On" Challenge to Club Kids

Wisconsin’s First Lady Jessica Doyle recently visited young readers at the Augusta M. LaVarnway Boys & Girls Club, located at 2739 N. 15th St. A teacher for many years, Doyle is currently touring the state to promote her “Read On Wisconsin” book club. She wants to encourage students statewide to read at least four books during the summer. Doyle also donated children’s books to the Club’s library.

During her visit, Doyle said she was impressed by the questions asked by LaVarnway Club members. She responded from an array of questions such as: Why does she like to read, what are her favorite hobbies, and where is her favorite place to visit in the state? To the latter she answered, “Right here with you at the LaVarnway Boys & Girls Club! It’s one of my favorite places to be.”
