Tommy Walls Wins 2010 Wisconsin Youth of the Year Title
Tommy Walls, our 2010 Northwestern Mutual Foundation Youth of Year, was recently named the 2010 Youth of the Year for the state of
Wisconsin by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). He competed against teens from 18 Boys & Girls Clubs across the state. As the Wisconsin Youth of the Year, Tommy represents more than 140,000 Boys & Girls Club members.
Tommy, a member of our Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club, is among hundreds of local Youth of the Year winners across the country recognized by BGCA for his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community.
This summer, Tommy will compete against teens from states located in BGCA’s Midwest Region for its Youth of the Year title. If named regional winner, he will be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship from Readers Digest Foundation and advance to the national competition in
Washington,
D.C. The National Youth of the Year receives an additional $15,000 college scholarship and will be installed by President Barack Obama during a ceremony in the Oval Office.
