Bucks’ community outreach never out of season

As the Milwaukee Bucks’ season kicks into gear, we’re proud to call our hometown basketball team our friend and community partner. In fact, four Bucks players visited our Clubs in the past two months to show their support for Milwaukee’s youth and share their insights on the importance of education.

In September Jabari Parker brought his family to the Pieper-Hillside Boys & Girls Club to donate backpacks full of school supplies to Club members on behalf of the Sonny Parker Youth Foundation. Parker spent extra time with the youth, signing every backpack in sight, taking photos with the Club members, and stressing the importance of staying in school and working hard.

Less than a week after Parker stopped by, Jerryd Bayless checked-in on our EABL basketball players during a practice at Pieper-Hillside Club. Bayless’ work ethic and continued academic pursuits were an inspiration to our members, who were eager for his advice.

More recently, the Milwaukee Bucks partnered with FOX Sports Wisconsin to bring Michael Carter-Williams, Tyler Ennis and assistant coach Joe Prunty to the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club. The trio guided hundreds of Milwaukee youth through basketball drills, strengthening their understanding of the core fundamentals of the sport in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Sophia Minnaert and Telly Hughes of FOX Sports Wisconsin fielded questions for the players from the youth and talked with the kids about being dedicated to academics. Their sentiment was echoed by Carter-Williams, whose message on the importance of listening to, and learning from everyone in his life quieted the gym full of Club members keen to know the secret to his success.

We are tremendously grateful to our friends at the Milwaukee Bucks and FOX Sports Wisconsin for their relentless support of our youth and we are excited to root the team on this season. Go Bucks!
