Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee is honored to name Alethia Tilford the 2015 Youth of the Year as part of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program for members ages 14 to 18. Alethia is a senior at Ronald Regan International Baccalaureate High School and has been a member of the Roger & Leona Fitzsimonds Boys & Girls Club for the last 11 years. Once you know more about Alethia, you will not be surprised as to why she was chosen for this great honor.
Throughout the past three and a half years of high school, Alethia has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while juggling more than just schoolwork. She works two part-time jobs, is active in extracurricular activities, spends time at the Club, volunteers and also fund-raised to have the chance to go on a school trip to Germany. Alethia’s accolades do not stop there. She is team captain of three sports, was selected to be State Superintendent at Badger Girls State and won the Excellence in Education Award from the Milwaukee Public School Board of School Directors in 2014.
On March 3 Alethia headed to Madison to continue her journey in the Youth of the Year state portion of the competition. She did a fabulous job representing the Clubs making it all the way to the second round of the competition!
With her hopes of becoming a television host one day, Alethia plans to attend college full-time next fall. We are very proud of Alethia and are excited to see what her bright, promising future holds!
Those attending the 2015 MVP Salute to Youth Dinner and Celebration presented by Johnson Bank to be held May 11 at The Pfister Hotel, will have the chance to hear Alethia speak about her life, the Clubs and her Youth of the Year title.
