Running a mile in new shoes with Kids Run Milwaukee

We’re proud to share that nearly 75 Boys & Girls Clubs members participated in the 1-mile run as part of the Milwaukee Running Festival on Halloween. Their participation was a culmination of the Kids Run Milwaukee six-week running program at Boys & Girls Clubs. The young runners trained two days per week with volunteer coaches and program administrators at the Clubs, learning proper stretching techniques and training to prepare for the mile-long race. The program was made possible by the generosity of the Argosy Foundation.

Our Kids Run Milwaukee participants felt the wind in their hair, and the excitement of crossing the finish line. Additionally, the youth each received a pair of running shoes and athletic socks courtesy of local shoe store, Performance Running Outfitters, equipping them with the right footwear to finish the race. Club members also took home a finisher’s medal and t-shirt, and were invited to enjoy the Halloween activities at the Health & Fitness Expo, held at the Harley-Davidson Museum.

Thank you to the Argosy Foundation, Performance Running Outfitters as well as Milwaukee Running Festival and its sponsor PNC Bank for giving our youth the tools to go the distance!
