Herzing University donates 1,300 backpacks to Club kids

Our amazing community partner Herzing University helped our Club members prepare to return to school last month by donating more than 1,300 backpacks filled with school supplies. This incredible donation made a significant impact for our youth, making sure they were ready to tackle their studies this semester.

What’s more, roughly 15 Herzing University employees volunteered their time at a special James Madison Academic Campus Boys & Girls Club carnival, giving away 300 of the backpacks to our Club members and engaging them in fun activities. Club members played football, baseball and frisbee-based carnival games, ate delicious sno-cones and tumbled through three bounce houses and obstacle courses. While kids danced to music courtesy of 103.7 FM’s DJ Gee-A, Club parents also had the opportunity to enjoy massages and receive free blood pressure screenings from Herzing students.

We’re thankful to Herzing University as well as our other community partners for not only helping prepare our Club members for school, but also engaging our youth and their families in such a fun experience!
