Volunteer and Make a Difference
Give just a few hours of your time and you can make a lasting impact on Milwaukee kids and teens.
Boys & Girls Clubs Needs You!
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee is actively recruiting positive, skilled and committed volunteers. Our needs are ongoing, and we are always looking to expand our volunteer roster. We currently have one-time volunteer opportunities as well as consistent volunteer opportunities in our Club settings.
Weekdays, 2:30pm-6:30 pm (All or Part)
We have many volunteer opportunities within our Clubs that can be customized to your schedule. Clubs are typically open between 2:30-6:30 p.m.
Opportunities include engaging with Club youth through one-on-one tutoring, homework help, art projects and recreational activities. For more details or to inquire about a specific Club, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (414) 267-8111.
Special Events (Individual or Corporate)
We customize one-time event opportunities to give our corporate and community partners a glimpse of what our organization is about. These opportunities include annual special events hosted by our fundraising staff and customized Club projects that fit a company’s desired volunteer request.
Customized opportunities typically last 3-5 hours and are created within the operational hours of our Club sites. Projects range from Club beautification (planting flowers, painting murals) to literacy activities with Club youth. If you are interested in volunteering for a special event or creating a one-time opportunity for your staff, complete the Volunteer Inquiry Form or contact our Development & Communications Manager at (414) 267-8158.
Youth who are 17-years-old or younger or 18-years-old and still in high school do not need to complete a volunteer application. They must go to their local Legacy Club and complete a Club membership application. Legacy sites have volunteer opportunities for youth to participate in during afterschool programming and summer camp. Youth volunteers will benefit from Club programming, sports and recreation activities, youth jobs and scholarship opportunities. For more information, contact your local Legacy Club.
Volunteer Application Process
To ensure the safety of our members, ALL volunteers must complete the necessary volunteer requirements and must pass a criminal background check before starting. Volunteers participating in a one-time event ARE NOT required to complete a background screening. Follow these steps to your volunteer opportunity:
- Complete the Volunteer Application Form
- Call (414) 267-8111 for a volunteer interview
- Schedule tour with Club Manager of preferred volunteer site
- Complete Background Screening and Volunteer Service Agreement Form
Please note that not everyone who completes the application process is approved to volunteer with us. Submitted applications that do not meet the necessary requirements will be omitted and the applicant will be notified. Acceptance into the Volunteer Program is contingent on all parts of the volunteer process. TB tests are no longer required for Boys & Girls Clubs volunteers.
"Volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club are more than volunteers; they're mentors and role models that impact the lives of kids."
