As longtime supporters of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Keith Mardak and Mary Vandenberg have gone above and beyond to provide for underserved youth in the community. Keith and Mary offered significant support to the Clubs in 2014, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring that all children have access to the highest-quality instruction and experiential learning.
This led to more than 1,000 members learning drama, music and financial literacy skills through programs in partnership with First Stage Milwaukee, Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and Junior Achievement. Today, we’re continuing to highlight Keith and Mary’s generous contributions to these four programs that assist members with embracing their creative sides.
Over 60 members from the 81st Street, Urban Day and Lincoln Avenue Clubs participated in guitar and drum lessons thanks to the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Members from Lincoln Avenue built and painted their own drums while children from Urban Day School learned Afro-Carribean drumming techniques. Meanwhile, the Suzuki Style Guitar Program offered small and large group classes to members from the 81st Street Club. The musical experiences made possible by Keith and Mary’s support resulted in team work, communication, confidence, discipline and performance preparation lessons for our members. Way to go, musicians
