Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee held its third-annual College Signing Day event last week, celebrating high school seniors who are heading off to college in the fall. A total of 90 Graduation Plus program members were honored at the event, hosted by our friends at Direct Supply.
Sitting at the head table in front of a room full of family and friends, our graduates signed letters of intent to not only pursue higher education, but to excel in their studies and attendance. Each Club member donned hats from their new schools as a drum line played and the audience applauded. Together, our graduates earned more than $6 million in scholarship funds.
Club member Eric Burks addressed the college-bound seniors as well as one hundred juniors from next year’s graduating class, stressing the scholars’ roles in Milwaukee‘s future. Eric scored a 34 on his ACT and plans to attend Morehouse College in the fall. “The ultimate goal in life is not only to be successful, but to share that success with other people,” Eric said.
We’re grateful to Direct Supply for hosting this inspirational event and helping us honor our amazing Club members. We are also thankful to our graduates’ friends, family and the staff in our Graduation Plus program for supporting their academic endeavors. Best of luck in the coming semesters, scholars!
