Last week we celebrated the talented artists at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee at our annual Fine Arts Exhibit. More than 500 guests visited the exhibit hosted by the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) as part of the Historic Third Ward Gallery Night and Day, soaking in over 80 works of art crafted by our Club members.
The five-day exhibit kicked off with an opening night celebration on Tuesday, January 19, where more than 30 Club members were on hand to discuss their art with visiting friends, family, and community members. The young artists voiced their gratitude to the Wallace Foundation’s Youth Arts Initiative for allowing them to express their creative energies and inspirations through various art forms. The exhibit included paintings, sculptures, and prints, while the event also included live violin music provided by the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Guests were greeted and directed by members of the LaVarnway and Fitzsimonds Boys & Girls Clubs’ Torch Clubs (10-12 year old leadership group), who volunteered to help make the night a success.
Our artists were so impressive that MIAD has already invited us back for next year’s Fine Arts Exhibit! On behalf of our member artists, their families and our staff we are so thankful to the Wallace Foundation for making our art program possible and to MIAD and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music for partnering with us to put on such a fantastic exhibit.
