Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee members have been active in celebrating the holidays this past week, spreading cheer through kind-spirited holiday cards and participation in arts programming.
Members of the Fratney Boys & Girls Club put their drawing and coloring skills to good use by crafting holiday card designs to send to troops overseas, drawing bright, festive trees and writing messages of thanks to the service men and women. Club staff had the designs printed, then encouraged children and parents alike to sign the cards for the troops. The cards are expected to arrive in Afghanistan by Christmas in care packages intended for 10 soldiers.
The “Fitz Films” crew at the Fitzsimonds Boys & Girls Club took a different approach to celebrating the season: They made a short film! While we won’t spoil “The Evil Gift Giver,” we can say the small crew of 15 Club members developed the script and spent three days filming and producing the video, learning video production fundamentals in our arts program at the Clubs. The Club members learned many excellent skills in the process and plan on producing a sequel to the video in the coming weeks. View “The Evil Gift Giver” below or on our YouTube channel.
If you’re feeling the spirit of the holidays and would like to give back to our community’s children, we encourage you to participate in our Click for Kids Online Toy Drive! Purchase a toy for a Club member through our catalog to spread joy this holiday season.
