Club girls go behind-the-scenes at the Milwaukee County Zoo

Eight girls from the Pieper-Hillside Boys & Girls Club had a memorable opportunity this month to tour the Milwaukee County Zoo. Led in golf carts by two of the Zoo’s tour guides, the Club members visited the numerous exhibits, learning about the animals and how the Zoo’s staff tends to them along the way.

Club girls relished the opportunity to feed the Zoo’s giraffes by hand, standing on a tall platform where the hungry creatures could easily lean over to eat directly from the girls’ hands. You can watch Club member D’Naya reacting to this unique experience in the video above. The girls visited the Zoo’s winter quarters to see where the animals are taken care of during the cold months and also went behind-the-scenes at the moose exhibit.

Thanks to the Milwaukee County Zoo and its warm, welcoming staff for providing our Club girls with a fun and educational experience!
