Boys & Girls Clubs walks with 500 Black Tuxedos

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee was proud to be a part of a true spectacle earlier this month: Hundreds of men and boys alike walking the streets of Milwaukee in tuxedos. Created by We Got This Founder Andre Lee Ellis, 500 Black Tuxedos encouraged men to pay tuxedo rental fees for boys of color in our community to participate, showing them firsthand they are worthy of dressing up and attending a nice dinner.

A total of 385 men and youth participated in the event, 75 of which had tuxedo rentals donated by Boys & Girls Clubs. The group rode buses to the Milwaukee Art Museum for a breathtaking photoshoot before heading to Cathedral Square Park in the heart of Milwaukee’s downtown to line up and walk to Chic Cafe for dinner. Prior to dinner, leaders in the community, such as Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, joined Ellis in stressing the value of the boys in the community and the importance of the mentors in the room.

We’re immensely grateful to have participated in 500 Black Tuxedos and thank We Got This for hosting us! For more coverage of the event, head over to Fox 6’s website.
