We were proud to dedicate the newly-remodeled gym at the Don & Sallie Davis Boys & Girls Club in honor of Boys & Girls Clubs of America President & CEO Jim Clark this month. Jim served as Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee’s President & CEO from 2004 to 2011. During his service, he helped to bring safe places to thousands of new Club members through our Decade of Hope campaign, a time when the Clubs experienced unprecedented expansion.
We’re thankful to Scott Schroeder for providing the funding necessary to remodel the space and dedicate it as the James L. Clark Gymnasium. Club members now enjoy a freshly-painted gym with a refinished court and new scoreboards, chairs and mats.
The gym dedication celebration featured heartfelt thoughts from close friends of both Jim and the Clubs, including the Davis Clubs’ namesake, Don & Sallie Davis. Our former Club member and 2010 Youth of the Year Tommy Walls also spoke to Jim’s loyalty and friendship, inspiring Tommy to become the Chief Programming Officer and Director of Program Services for the Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club in Champaign, Ill. Jim’s passion for improving the lives of others can be felt near and far to this day, and we can’t think of a better person to dedicate our Davis Club’s gym to.
Under Clark’s leadership, the organization increased from 23 to 40 Clubs in the Greater Milwaukee area. He became the ninth chief executive to lead the national Boys & Girls Clubs organization in its 105-year history. We’re endlessly grateful to Jim for his dedicated leadership during his tenure with Boys & Girls Clubs, both locally and nationally.
